Thomas Jeb Hensarling (born May 29, 1957) is an American politician who has served as a member of the United States House of Representatives from Texas's 5th congressional district since 2003. A member of the Republican Party, Hensarling currently chairs the House Financial Services Committee, and chaired the House Republican Conference from 2011 to 2013. A leading opponent of regulating the financial industry, Hensarling has close ties to Wall Street, having received campaign donations from every major Wall Street bank as well as various payday lenders.
