I don't see myself as having made the transition. I aim to be more transient than transitional. Life is constantly changing, now at a rate faster than ever, so being in a transitory state is the best way to keep pace.
For me, running is about freedom. I find that the freer I feel, the faster I am.
Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachments is to, grow every day more encroaching; like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour.
I still believe that, in the long run, the aggregate of the decisions of individual businessmen, exercising individual judgment in a free economy, even if often mistaken, is likely to do less harm than the centralized decisions of a Government; and certainly the harm is likely to be counteracted faster. As I said earlier in this debate, our economic medicine may be painful but it is fast and powerful because it can act freely.
To go faster you must slow down.
The only thing we know about the future is that it will be faster changing and more unpredictable than the present.
I always feel I do it too slow, but then others do it faster.
Our hardware is likely to turn into something like us a lot faster than we are likely to turn into something like our hardware. . . I very much doubt that our grandchildren will understand the distinction between that which is a computer and that which isn't.
The machinery of filmmaking is really slow and ponderous and I don't know how you're going to make it any faster with any of the systems, whether it's Red, Sony, or whatever.
It's about staying ahead of what happened yesterday. When you just in your mind think. . . nothing's going to stop me. I don't care how I felt yesterday. I'm gonna go out today and do what I know I can do. If you can just tell yourself. . . no I'm stronger than this, no I'm better than this, no I'm faster than this, no I'm tougher than this. I think you can make it through situations that your never thought possible.

Whatever we attempt is a reflection of our inner thirst, which we hope to quench in all these external ways. What we are looking for lies within us, and if we gave out time and energy to an interior search, we would come across it much faster, since that is the only place where it is to be found.
The writing is amazing because having a hand in creating what you're going to be performing. . . there's nothing like it. It's always going to be better suited for you. In some ways the acting is a lot easier and a lot more fun.

I watch a sort of primitive form of the recommodification machine around my friends and myself in sixties, and it took about two years for this clumsy mechanism to get and try to sell us The Monkees. In 1977, it took about eight months for a slightly faster more refined mechanism to put punk in the window of Holt Renfrew. It's gotten faster ever since. The scene in Seattle that Nirvana came from: as soon as it had a label, it was on the runways of Paris. There's no grace period, so that's a way in which I see us losing the interstitial.
