It's not hard to read about death abstractly. I do find it tough when a character I love dies, of course. You can truly miss characters. Not like you miss people, but you can still miss them.
[I like] Die Hard and Paul Verhoeven movies. S - t like that.
Power is my mistress. I have worked too hard at her conquest to allow anyone to take her away from me.
The work I'm doing on 'Watchmen' is mind bending and physically just hard.
I calmed myself by walking into my nearby bookstore and marveling at all the books other people had written. So many people had finished and published novels; it couldn’t be so hard, right?
Simplicity is really hard.
I went to the brink many times. A couple of times I thought "I'm gone, This is it. " But then you would just keep working. I think if you're close to the brink and just make sure that you work twice as hard and put twice as much effort into everything and the people around you and everything, you should come through.
I've always had the mentality of: work hard, get to bed early, focus - and let your work speak for itself.
I work hard, and I do good, and I'm going to enjoy myself. I'm not going to let you restrict me.
I've never seen people as physically distraught as the Bush administration team was because of what was happening to the economy. I personally believe that the steps that President Obama took saved the economy. He doesn't get the credit he deserves for taking some very hard positions. But it was a terrible recession. So now we've dug ourselves out of it, we're standing, but we're not yet running.
It's humbling to know that you have fans all over America and all over the world and they want you to play on their respective basketball team. It's very humbling that they respect the way I play the game of basketball. I can't discredit that. I can't say I don't enjoy it because you put in a lot of hard work to have fans. And for me to be a role model and for me to have fans all over is great. It's very humbling.
The only way to get people to like working hard is to motivate them. Today, people must understand why they're working hard. Every individual in an organization is motivated by something different.
There were hard days when you'd be screaming for hours and then the next day, you'd have a scene where you were just talking and because your voice was so stretched out from screaming for five hours, it would sound weird. It required a lot of adrenaline, too, so you have to be able to turn it on all the time. You felt a bit thin at the end of it, just depleted.
Just work on your craft hard - that's your only hope of doing anything worthwhile.
My talent is working very hard and having a decent nose. A good nose for a story and the ability to get a little bit dirty sometimes, to get a little bit physical sometimes chasing a story. And to feel it, I mean I feel it.
I'll be the first one to admit my first couple of years I was pretty hard on the refs.
Hard work is amply the refuge of those who have nothing to do.
I didn't expect it was going to be easy. But hard work is a lot easier to tolerate when it's something you want to do instead of something you have no choice about.
Ah yes, the head is full of books. The hard part is to force them down through the bloodstream and out through the fingers.
At a certain point my novels set. They set just as hard as that jam jar. And then I know they are finished.
