Who is telling us about the false self today? Who is even equipped tell us? Many clergy have not figured this out for themselves, since even ministry can be a career decision or an attraction to "religion" more than the result of an encounter with God or themselves. Formal religious status can maintain the false self rather effectively, especially if there are a lot of social payoffs like special respect, titles, salaries, a good self image, or nice costumes. It is no accident that the religious "Pharisees" became the symbolic bad guys in the Jesus story.
'Jesus' message was to love your neighbour as yourself, and there are people in need. I hope that people got that message.
Patience is more than endurance. A saint's life is in the hands of God like a bow and arrow in the hands of an archer. God is aiming at something the saint cannot see, and He stretches and strains, and every now and again the saint says--'I cannot stand anymore. ' God does not heed, He goes on stretching till His purpose is in sight, then He lets fly. Trust yourself in God's hands. Maintain your relationship to Jesus Christ by the patience of faith. 'Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him.
Jesus would be framed and in jail if he was living today.
Like the Bible says. A child should be leader of them all, and to be led by that kind of innocence. Didnt Jesus say bring on the children? Be like the children. Not childish, but child-like. That kind of innocence.
Certainly I have no faith in Jehovah, although I think it quite likely that Jesus Christ, as a preacher and a wise man, did indeed exist.
When our minds really catch hold of the significance of Jesus' atonement, the world's hold on us loosens.
The divinity of Jesus is made a convenient cover for absurdity. Nowhere in the Gospels do we find a precept for Creeds, Confessions, Oaths, Doctrines, and whole carloads of other foolish trumpery that we find in Christianity.
All change comes from deepening your understanding of the salvation of Christ and living out the changes that understanding creates in your heart.
What does happen constantly with all kinds of people I meet is they say "I had this encounter with Jesus, can you help me understand it. . . " The labels, more than ever, simply aren't big enough to contain what the cosmic Christ is up to in the world.
Thierry Henry, he was definitely the best. He was just too quick. Oh God, what a player he was. I was so relieved when he went to Barcelona. He used to have everything. You couldn't even kick him, he was big and strong, oh, Jesus, he was a nightmare
On Christ, and what he has done, my soul hangs for time and eternity. And if your soul also hangs there, it will be saved as surely as mine shall be. And if you are lost trusting in Christ, I will be lost with you and will go to hell with you. I must do so, for I have nothing else to rely upon but the fact that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, lived, died, was buried, rose again, went to heaven, and still lives and pleads for sinners at the right hand of God.
Save me from this road I'm on, Jesus take the wheel.
Jesus is not the 'founder of Christianity.
The reason the stone was rolled away on Jesus's tomb was not so that Jesus could get out, but so that we could get in.
Charles de Foucauld, the found of the Little Brothers of Jesus, wrote a single sentence that's ahad a profound impact on my life. He said, "The one thing we owe absolutely to God is never to be afraid of anything. " Never to be afraid of anything, even death, which, after all, is but that final breakthrough into the open, waiting, outstretched arms of Abba.
Rom. 8:29 tells us what our purpose is - to conform to the image of Jesus Christ, and that singularly helps me keep a focus. That's really what I'm called to do, and I should be gradually growing and changing. He should be increasing, and I should be decreasing.
Jesus H. Christ. I have new respect for the female of the species suddenly.
Don't be afraid to go to the Sacrament of Confession, where you will meet Jesus who forgives you.
