It's the chasm between being invited to a colleague's wedding with your same-sex partner and being able to slow-dance without the other guests whispering.
Once they're on paper, they're gone. I like to do as much with the words, as far as image goes.
I guess that in a lot of ways, my writing is more of a character to me than something that I feel personally attached to.
