The root of humanly caused evil is not man's animal nature, not territorial aggression, or innate selfishness, but our need to gain self-esteem, deny our mortality, and achieve a heroic self-image. Our desire for the best is the cause of the worst.
Deeds of violence in our society are performed largely by those trying to establish their self-esteem, to defend their self-image, and to demonstrate that they, too, are significant.
In the eyes of the ego, self-esteem and humility are contradictory. In truth, they are one and the same.
You are not here to prove worthiness. You are here to extend the creation, creator, creating that you are.
The man who does not value himself, cannot value anything or anyone.
