Honestly, there are so many things about structuring a story for film and telling a story for film that are really different from doing radio.
In improvisation, there is only one time. This is what computer people call real time. The time of inspiration, the time of technically structuring and realizing. . . the time of playing it, and the time of communicating with the audience, are all one.
When you go through life. . . it all seems accidental at the time it is happening. Then when you get on in your 60s or 70s and look back, your life looks like a well-planned novel with a coherent theme. . . I love movies and I love art - and an architect is an entertainer, the guy who builds a rollercoaster is an entertainer. He knows where to build the slopes, and the big anticipation when you go up. . . He makes you go, 'Oh my God!' when you get to the top before you come down. It's just the same as structuring a show or a dance.
Creativity is really the structuring of magic.
