The most intelligent people disguise the fact that they are intelligent. Wise men do not wear name tags. The more people talk about their own skills, the more desperate they are—their work should speak for itself.
Life is nothing but rags and tags and filthy rags at that.
Jazz is not a 'form' but a collection of tags and tricks.
Paranoid schizophrenia in the forties, there was only a few of us because they just invented those tags from some college somewhere and we were just a small group of people. But now there are many paranoid schizophrenias because all these these guys that are graduating from college that are readin' all these books, anything they can't understand is a paranoid schizophrenia.
If the only tool we use to analyse what's valuable is a price tag, then those things that don't have price tags begin to look like they have no value.
Protestant Christianity, whether in its liberal or conservative garb, finds itself waking up each morning in bed with a deteriorating modern culture, between sheets with a raunchy sexual reductionism, despairing scientism, morally normless cultural relativism, and self-assertive individualism. We remain resident aliens, OF the world but not profoundly in it, dining at the banquet table of waning modernity without a whisper of table grace. We all wear biblical name tags (Joseph, David, and Sarah), but have forgotten what our Christian names mean.
It's always a happy day when YYZ appears on our luggage tags.
There's a long-standing (50 year old) flame war within the field over whether it's "sci-fi" or "SF". SF has traditionally been looked down on by the literary establishment because, to be honest, much early SF was execrably badly written - but these days the significance of the pigeon hole is fading; we have serious mainstream authors writing stuff that is I-can't-believe-it's-not-SF, and SF authors breaking into the mainstream. If you view them as tags that point to shelves in bricks-and-mortar bookshops, how long are these genre categories going to survive in the age of the internet?
What's cool is when people send me messages or tag me in their photos, which definitely happens more after a project comes out. The best part, I think, is that the DMs and tags are always from young girls, and reaching them is the most important thing for me.
I could have worse tags than 'Airmiles Andy' - although I don't know what they are.
If you don't own a train company then you go and paint on one instead. . . it all comes from that thing at school when you had to have name tags in the back of something. . . that makes it belong to you. You can own half the city by scribbling your name over it.
My material never comes out verbatim every time. I always tweak in a line, or tweak away a line, gain a couple tags or lose a couple tags. The timing is always off.
I would have bought you some more, but since they didn’t have tags in them, I didn’t know what size to buy. (Sunshine) Great. I live to be stuck in strange places, naked. (Talon)
Advising the average person to not concern herself with calories but instead to pay attention to hunger triggers and eating foods rick in nutrients--well, it's a wonderful concept. I also love the thought of unicorns jumping over cotton candy rainbows. I'm even considering taking up basketball to see if it makes me taller. Come on already! Suggesting that someone who struggles with his weight does not need to think about calories is as risky as suggesting you not look at price tags the next time you're in the market for a car.
I hate to put tags on things, because tags change, and they change with the requirements made on them.
I wouldn't be happy about being considered a love poet or an environmental - I don't want any of those tags.
