Meditation means to go beyond the limitations of body and mind.
For an hour every day, I did something. I was on the elliptical or the treadmill, and if someone asked me to go to a class - whether it was spinning, boxing, yoga, you name it - I went. By the end of the month, I felt so good, I just kept going. I didn't want to lose my momentum.
I do a little bit of yoga-style meditation. Relaxing and breathing even just one minute a day makes a big difference.
Yoga is when every cell of the body sings the song of the soul.
I'm a sucker for turquoise sea, white beaches and palm trees. I've been to the tropics every year since I could afford it. It's the perfect place to unwind. I can chill out, read, do a bit of yoga.
No yoga exercise, no meditation in a chapel filled with music will rid you of your blues better than the humble task of making your own bread.
Practicing yoga is like tuning up your car: it allows the bode to function in accordance with what it was designed to do.
Man in his madness doesn't realize that God has made him from amoeba to this stage for some purpose. There is a big purpose behind it. And the purpose is that now you have to know your Spirit, by which you enter into the Kingdom of God. You have to enter into the Kingdom of God. How? What is your passport? Is your Spirit. Because when the Spirit starts shining within you, you start transforming. You start transforming into a new being - into a new personality with a new awareness and you are a different person. Your priorities change.
Samadhi is the absorption of God. There's no sense of time, place or condition.
There are different pathways - be it Zen, tantra, karma yoga, or jnana yoga. Different ways have been devised to do the same thing for different types of people according to their temperament.
Rather than allowing our response to an even affect our breathing, we can learn instead to let our breathing change our relationship to the event.
There is nothing but eternity. Eternity has always been and will always be.
Never do anything that taints your mind. Wrong actions cause negative or evil mental vibrations that are reflected in your whole appearance and personality. Engage in those actions and thoughts that nurture the good qualities you want to have.
Nowadays, the practice of yoga stops with just asanas. Very few even attempt dharana and dhyana (deeper meditation) with seriousness. There is a need to search once more and reestablish the practice and value of yoga in modern times.
No one is wise by birth, for wisdom results from one own's efforts.
Yoga has brought me to the part of religion I really like - the positive sides of religion, the parts we all share, rather than the things that create separation.
When the mind is left without anything to cling to, it becomes still.
You have to have something in your life that's more important than the work. People don't really like to admit that. I think that you have to find something else. I don't know what it is. Is it yoga or God or politics? For me it's just family.
The law of life is to leave behind the ground one is standing on and then step forward.
Every time you have a chance, go within and do your meditation.
